December 2013 CU for SharePoint 2010     
           

Be aware that the December Cumulative Update for SharePoint 2010 is a Post-SP2 hot fix. It is recommended to have SP2 installed before installing the December CU.

The KB articles for December CU are available at the following locations

• KB 2849990 - SharePoint Foundation 2010
• KB 2849971 - SharePoint Server 2010
• KB 2849972 - SharePoint Server 2010 with Project Server

As you see there is a separate Full Server Package for SharePoint Server 2010 with Project Server which simplifies patching of this common installation.

The Full Server Packages for December 2013 CU are available through the following links:

• Download SharePoint Foundation 2010 December 2013 CU
• Download SharePoint Server 2010 December 2013 CU
• Download SharePoint Server 2010 with Project Server December 2013 CU

After installing the fixes you need to run the SharePoint 2010 Products Configuration Wizard on each machine in the farm.

Be aware that the SharePoint Server 2010 CU contains the SharePoint Foundation CU. 

SharePoint Server 2010 with Project Server CU contains Project Server CU, SharePoint Server CU and SharePoint Foundation CU.

That means only one package has to be installed for the SharePoint 2010 product family.

    SharePoint Designer Settings:
 

     In this article I am explaining the Options that we can see on SharePoint Designer settings for better understanding and what option do what exactly

                                     

1.    Enable SharePoint Designer — Determines whether SharePoint Designer can be used at all

2.    Enable Detaching Pages from the Site Definition — Allows edited pages to be customized and detached from the site definition

3.    Enable Customizing Master Pages and Layout Pages — Removes the Master Page link from the Navigation pane and prevents the ability to update master pages and layout pages

4.    Enable Managing of the Web Site URL Structure — Removes the All Files link from the Navigation pane

SharePoint designer 2013 Installation and Configuration

To Download of SharePoint designer and the pre-requisites check the below link

      Installation: Follow the below steps to install and configure in SharePoint 2013.

1.     Run setup.exe

   

2.     Click on Run

3.     Accept the Agreement and continue

         

4.     Click on Install now for New Installation

                   

5.     If want to change the path And options click on Customize

                               

6.     Once the path changed, click on Install now.

7.     Installation in Progress

           

    

8.     Once done, click Close                         

 9.     You can see the designer in programs under Microsoft office 2013.

                               

   How to Connect with SharePoint server 2013:

1.     Go to central administration->General application settings->configure SharePoint designer settings

2.     Ensure to Check the options below.
