Windows Update standalone installer ,installer encountered an error :0x80096002 while installing windows identity foundation in windows server 2012.

Windows Update standalone installer ,installer encountered an error :0x80096002 while installing windows identity foundation in windows server 2012.

Issue: Windows update standalone installer, installer encountered an error :0x80096002,the certificate for the signer of the message is valid while installing the prerequisites of Windows6.1-KB974404 for SharePoint 2013 in windows server 2012.

Solution: I found  that Windows Identity Foundation is built into Windows Server 2012 Release Candidate as an additional Feature that you can add via Server Manager

1.    So you need to make sure that the feature is added successfully in the server
2.    If still got the same error, Remove the feature and add again.

After selecting Windows Identity Foundation 3.5 from the Add Roles and Features Wizard, I clicked Next and then Install.  Once the installation wizard completed successfully.
